Everyone would like to have those washboard stomachs with six packs.  Alas, losing belly fat is not an easy thing to accomplish.  There are many factors that affect your success, your level of activity and what you eat being the top two factors.

What you drink is another big factor that affects your success when trying to lose weight and burn fat around your waist.  Sugary sodas are full of calories, but some of the so called healthy drinks can jeopardize your success as well.  Common juices like apple, orance and grape juice have loads of sugar, so it is better to eat the fruit rather than drink the fruit juice.

Diet sodas don’t have the calories, but according to some recent studies, they have restricted the weight loss and people who don’t drink them have better results than people who drink one or more sodas a day.

Let’s talk exercise.

The most popular exercise for abdominals are crunches and sit ups, but all they do is strengthen the muscles.  In order to be able to see those muscles, you have to burn the fat around your belly so that the muscles are visible.  The best exercises to do that are rows, pullups, deadlifts and squats.  These allow for an overall movement of the body that builds a lot of different muscles, causing your body to work harder, hence burning more calories.

Last but not least, I’d like to mention weight loss pills or supplements.  You can diet and exercise, but sometimes it just doesn’t seem to work.  In my experience, when those two are combined with some supplements, it can enhance your weight loss, in some cases by as much as 50%.  GSK’s Alli is one such supplement, which is also approved by the FDA.  It works as a fat blocker, so your body only absorbs 2/3rd of the fat you consume.  It has some “treatment effects”, but more than half the people that take it never experience these effects.

The latest discoveries in weight loss pills are Acai Berry and Colon Cleansing supplements.  The Acai Berry supplements raise your metabolism and suppress your appetite.  Colon cleansing is an extension of fasting, where you restrict your food intake and flush your body of toxins.  When done together, these can lead to rapid weight loss, but you have to follow that up by staying on a healthy regimen of eating right and exercising.

These supplements are not approved by the FDA and you should always consult your doctor before taking any weight loss or other pills.
